Holtville’s softball team continued its campaign towards a return to the AHSAA Class 5A regional softball tournament last week with stiff competition against Class 6A and 7A opponents. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs (4-3) hosted Wetumpka in Slapout, and took their third loss of the season, 21-1.Â
The Indians scored 12 runs in the seventh inning to cap off the win. It was an all-around rough night for Holtville, as the Bulldogs only managed two runs, striking out seven times and committing four errors. Trinity Stroud got the start, striking out six batters, walking six and giving up 17 hits to the Indians. Megyn Burnett came in as relief in the seventh inning, as she managed to end the inning for the Bulldogs, giving up four hits, zero strikeouts and zero walks.Â

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of pipes they should be
wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly.
Those that have in ground sprinkler systems should drain them and
cover above ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
