At their home opener, the Holtville Bulldogs proved their status as an experienced team, fully equipped to make another deep run this softball season. The Bulldogs faced Stanhope Elmore last Tuesday night, picking up the 9-3 win on the back of great pitching from starter Brooke Findley and a stellar night at the plate.
Findley threw 14 strikeouts in a full seven innings with only one walk. As a team, Holtville picked up six hits, eight RBIs and eight walks. Left fielder Baxie Goff hit her third home run of the season, scoring three runs in the process, in the bottom of the first inning off of SEHS pitcher Jacaiya Perry. Shortstop Holley DeVaughn hit her first career home run in the bottom of the second inning.
