After a two-game losing skid, the Holtville Bulldogs returned to Slapout for the fourth annual Wood Bat Classic. Eight teams participated in the three-day tournament, with the best six returning for Saturday’s bracket play. The Bulldogs started out with an 8-1 win over Montevallo on Thursday, then picked up another win, 14-4, over Billingsley. In bracket play, Holtville routed Montevallo once again to clinch a finals berth where it would face Charles Henderson. In the final, the Bulldogs fell to the Trojans, 4-3, in the 10th inning after Charles Henderson singled to bring in a runner. Holtville now sits at 7-10 on the season. The Bulldogs begin area play this week.
