After winning its first state title in January, the Stanhope Elmore boys bowling team was honored with a resolution celebrating the accomplishment by Alabama Sen. Clyde Chambliss. The senator honored and celebrated the team, which defeated Hoover in the state title match after staging a late comeback. Bowlers Seth Wilson were presented with their Drake Abbot individual tournament medals, with Wilson winning the first place medal and Abbott winning seventh place. The team plans to attend the 2026 U.S. High School Bowling National Championship in Columbus, Ohio in June. The program is seeking donations and community sport as it endeavors to make its mark in the national competition. Â
