Samuel Higgs / TPI The Tallassee girls soccer team scored three unanswered goals in the seocnd half against Holtville.

With certain key players out with injuries, Tallassee’s girls soccer team is figuring things out as it goes, hoping to eventually string together a top-two finish in a very competitive area and make a run into the playoffs.

“We’ve got to go up against Trinity, Saint James and Montgomery Catholic,” Tallassee coach Matt Tarpley said, referencing the Class 4A Area 3 slate. “Those are really strong teams. The girls played well last year, I think Saint James got us one to nothing at the end of the season, and we played really well that game. We just couldn’t find the net and get the equalizer we were looking for towards the end. But I’m excited for the girls and the season they have ahead of them.”
