Even with his long history of success in the sport, Tallassee wrestling coach John Mask is one of the humblest people you will ever meet. After guiding his team to a second-consecutive state duals title, Mask refused to be granted any of the credit.

“I want it to be about the kids,” Mask said, laughing. “Too many people are texting me. I’m appreciative, but part of me is like, ‘Y’all just go talk about somebody else.’ It’s all the kids. It’s definitely humbling, and I’m appreciative. I’m proud of the kids and proud of the team. I’m just blessed more than I deserve.”
