Friday night, everything was on the line, as the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs rose to the occasion and defeated the Wetumpka Indians in an intense rivalry game to determine who will go to the playoffs. The buildup heading into this game was fueled by the burning flames of rivalry, and the critical desire to make an appearance in the playoffs. Both teams laid it all out there, but it was the Mustangs that walked away with the 28-19 victory in Class 5A Region 2 action.

Wetumpka struck first early in the first half by making good use of Jordan Hill, who played a heavy role in Wetumpka’s ground game. With the use of their rushing plays, Wetumpka set up quarterback Karsen Tate to connect a 45-yard passing touchdown to Patrick Davis but missed the 2 point conversion, starting the Indians off with a 6-0 lead.
