After last season’s disappointing and premature finish, the Wetumpka Indians are back on the dirt and reloaded with new talent, experienced players and drive to compete at a high level. The Wetumpka Indians hosted their first Class 7A softball opponent, Opelika (3-1), for their home opener last Wednesday night, picking up a win in a dominant showing, 8-3. The Indians are now 4-1 on the season, already showing their potential to contend in the postseason.

That potential started in the pitchers’ circle, a point which Wetumpka coach Daryl Otwell has pointed to as a strength of this year’s team.
