There is no doubt Tallassee is celebrating Christmas. Just look around and anyone can see lights of the holiday season that have been up for weeks already. The festivities officially kicked off Friday night as Mayor Joey Wiginton helped light the City of Tallassee’s Christmas tree in Veterans Park.
“I can remember when they planted this tree,” Tallassee native and Tallassee Area Chamber of Commerce director Carmen Rodgers said. “It was about the size of a tree you would put in a home. It has grown into something special that we can all celebrate.”
