Feeling a void is inevitable for a loved one when they have lived a life as impactful as former Dadeville police chief Gary Steve Freeman.

Freeman served as the Dadeville police chief for 35 years and died in his home on July 23. In his obituary provided by Langley Funeral Home, Freeman was described leaving behind a legacy of service, friendship and devotion to the community he loved. Over three decades is a lot of life to give as a public servant and Dadeville Police Chief Jonathon Floyd said he was the definition of a true leader. Floyd has known Freeman since the early 1990s.
