This week has been declared Alabama Extension Week by Gov. Kay Ivey, which means it is the opportunity for communities to engage their local extension office.

The Tallapoosa County Extension Office works with residents in many areas, but primarily focuses on agriculture, human sciences, community development and offers a range of youth programs through Alabama 4-H. County extension director Shane Harris said those programs reached more than 1,400 kids annually.
