Health education is starting early for Reeltown Elementary School students.

The book is the first in the Growing Tigers book series started by Auburn University College of Nursing to promote health education in local schools.

Auburn University College of Nursing launched its Growing Tiger Book Series at RES on Monday. RES reading interventionist Jennifer Newman read the college’s first book, “Growing Tiger: Living Strong with Asthma,” to two groups of second graders. AU College of Nursing professor and outreach coordinator Linda Gibson-Young said the college’s Tiger Community Health Awareness and Training, or TigerCHAT, program was an initiative created to get health education into local school systems.
