Alabamians pay one of nation’s highest sales tax rates

Recently released statistics show that Alabama has the fourth highest combined sales tax rate in the nation.

The Tax Foundation, a Washington D.C.-based independent tax policy research organization, compiled numbers showing that 45 states and the District of Columbia collect statewide sales taxes and 38 states collect local sales tax.
