Ever since Kevin Thweatt can remember, one of his parents was a member of the Tallapoosa County Commission. First it was his father Bill Thweatt, starting in 1972 — just one year after Kevin was born, then it was his mother Emma Jean Thweatt, who has been a longtime commissioner in her own right.
But now that Emma Jean is stepping down, her son is looking to fill those shoes. Earlier this week, he qualified on the Democratic ballot for the Tallapoosa County Commission, District 4. Primary elections are scheduled for May 19.
