The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Alabama chapter has been operating in Dadeville for a few years, but the state community organizer is hoping to breathe new life into the organization’s presence in the city.

SPLC is a nonprofit working across states in the South such as Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi and has been operating for more than 50 years. According to its website, the organization focuses on four racial justice issues: strengthening democracy and voting rights, dismantling white supremacy, ending unjust imprisonment and eliminating poverty and economic inequality.
