It may have been a mock trial, but the lessons learned were real for Southern Preparatory Academy’s mock trial team.

Submitted / TPI Southern Preperatory Academy's mock trial team competed in the district 3 regional mock trial on Oct. 17 at Montgomery Academy. The team will compete in the state mock trial competition next month.

The team recently competed in the District 3 Regional Mock Trial Competition held at Montgomery Academy. The case this year was a murder case, which was more fun for the team. Each student was assigned a different role such as witness, prosecutor and defense lawyer. Each role also required its own preparation. The team practiced on Mondays and Tuesdays when people were available, but also studied the information independently to prepare.
