Southern Prep upgrading communications systems across campus

Southern Preparatory Academy is going into the upcoming school year with new and improved communication.

Recently, Southern Prep was awarded a grant from the East Alabama Community Foundation, which the school is using to fund the installation of a general mobile radio service for schoolwide communications. Southern Prep interim director of residential life Bill Monk said the system will enhance its daily communications and emergency readiness. He described the current system as unreliable as it leaves several dead spots across campus. Therefore, the school determined the upgrade was necessary to ensure its campus remains safe, connected and prepared in emergencies.
