Young team, big achievement: Raider team reaches new highs at state competition

For a young team paving the way, their improvement is one for the books.

Recently, the female and male team of raiders of Southern Preparatory Academy’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps competed in the highly competitive Grissom Raider Gauntlet. The test of athleticism includes events such as a two-mile or 5K run, an item relay, tire flip, rope bridge, obstacle courses and litter carry. This year the lady rangers obtained a second place overall finish making them second in the Alabama State Raider Rankings. The mixed team placed seventh this year. However, most of the males were not able to compete in all the events due to a cross country meet many of them had to attend.
