Last Wednesday, agents with the Alabama Department of Corrections Law Enforcement Services Division and K-9 Division assisted the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in locating and apprehending a fugitive wanted by authorities from Arizona. According to an ADOC press release, Deon Vaughns was taken into custody without incident near the intersection of U.S. Highway 143 and Marion Spillway Road in Elmore County. 

“Vaughns was wanted on an outstanding aggravated assault warrant issued in Mesa, Arizona,” according to the release. “Through the coordinated efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service and ADOC law enforcement personnel, authorities were able to locate and safely arrest Vaughns.” Following his arrest, Vaughns was transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he is being held pending extradition to Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona.
