Cliff Williams / TPI More than 400 Elmore County juniors visited Wetumpka and the historic Elmore County Courthouse for Government Day Thursday. It gave students a chance to interact with government officials and leaders of area agencies.

Elmore County students are better prepared for the future after the 23rd annual Elmore County Government Day.

More than 400 juniors from seven schools in Elmore County came to Historic Elmore County Courthouse Thursday to see a county commission meeting, visit with county departments including public works, Elmore County EMA, the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office and the Wetumpka Fire Department. Students also heard about many of the agencies in Elmore County who offer services to citizens.
