Visitor to Elmore Correctional arrested on contraband charges

A visitor was stopped at Elmore Correctional Facility before contact with inmates carrying contraband.

According to an Alabama Department of Corrections press release, a body scan detected concealed objects on a visitor as they were attempting to enter the prison during visitation hours Sunday. Kyria Latham, 25, of Caralton, was identified and patted down by hand. Corrections officers recovered two packages containing 46 grams of fentanyl, 95 pills of oxycontin and hydrocodone, 55 grams of synthetic cannabinoids, 6 grams of sprayed paper and four Apple iPhones.
