Jury declares Hughes guilty following closing arguments Wednesday

A former Wetumpka gym owner and body builder, accused of rape in a Sept. 11, 2016 incident, was found guilty Wednesday on one charge of rape in the first degree and one charge of second-degree burglary.

Chase Hughes will return to court in March for sentencing, but until then Circuit Judge Ben Fuller said he would remain in Elmore County Jail.
