A bill, sponsored by Sen. Bobby Singleton (D-Tuscaloosa), that would legalize marijuana for medical purposes in Alabama passed the Senate Judiciary Committee by a vote of 4-3, with one abstention.

With legislative sessions not being held Monday, the earliest the bill could go before the Senate would be Tuesday.
