Search for Kegley gets underway in earnest

Elmore County District Attorney Randall Houston talks to a reporter about Monday’s search activities.

After a rainy start to Monday morning, improving weather allowed an army of law enforcement personnel and private entities to begin the first active day of searching 300 acres in the Chalk Hill Road area of the Friendship community in an effort to find evidence in the 1998 disappearance of Traci Pittman Kegley.

Kegley was last seen at a BP gas station at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Redland Road on the afternoon of April 26, 1998. Kegley’s daughter was found unharmed in Kegley’s abandoned 1993 Geo Storm on Alabama Highway 170, also known as the Old Georgia Road, the next day.
