A program managed by the Alabama Department of Public Health has provided females of Alabama with more than 180,000 free mammograms since its inception in 1998.

The program, Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (ABCCEDP), was created to provide free breast and cervical cancer screenings for women who meet income and age eligibility guidelines.
