Two meetings lead to DRA’s purchase of Little Sam’s

The sign on the building that held historic Little Sam’s Cafe is faded now, but the cafe was once one of the most bustling spots in downtown Wetumpka. The building that held the cafe after iwas constructed n in the 1880s and its opening as Little Sam’s was in 1909.

The Wetumpka City Council held a brief Monday night meeting, which was interrupted for 40 minutes when the council went into an executive session.

When the council emerged, it voted unanimously for the city to guarantee a loan for the Downtown Redevelopment Authority for the Authority’s own investment in downtown.
