Coosa River becomes stadium for area during athletic offseason

Chris Carter, owner of Coosa River Adventures, turned his passion for water sports into a thriving business.

As customers pull into the makeshift parking lot of Coosa River Adventures, the first thing you hear is the two dogs barking. The first thing you see is a towering alligator carved out of a tree.

Chris Carter, a former Air Force computer programmer, had enough of electronics after spending more than three decades in the military. He’s now owned and operated the kayak store for more than 20 years.
