File / TPI Elmore County's Tyler Payton and the rest of the wrestling team look to continue the success from last year into 2024.

The Elmore County wrestling team led by coach Mason Thornton is entering uncharted waters as a heavy presence in the Class 5A Alabama Coaches Preseason rankings. Six of its wrestlers sit in the top 10 out of the 14 weight classes. 

If returning talent wasn’t every reason to be optimistic in itself, the Panthers also have a veteran-led squad this year.
