On the back of three touchdowns from running back Dee Barnes, the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs reclaimed the rivalry title against Wetumpka last week. This week they face a Class 6A non-region opponent in Calera for their senior night. 

The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs are coming off a huge momentum win against their rivals, the Wetumpka Indians, last Friday night. That win is one that the Mustangs have coveted every year since coach Hunter Adams took over the program in 2023, and now they have it. 

That win also cements Stanhope Elmore as the third place team heading into the Class 6A playoffs where they will likely face a stacked Theodore program in Mobile. This playoff berth marks the first one for the Mustangs since 2020, a huge accomplishment for a program that has seemingly struggled to keep up in the past.Â
