Wetumpka native wins silver medal in AAU national track competition

Morgan Causey brought home a silver medal and broke a personal record at the 2014 AAU National Club Track and Field Championships Saturday at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.

The 10-year-old Wetumpka Middle schooler, as part of the Montgomery-based New Life track and field team, placed second in the 11-year-old girls turbo javelin throw with a toss of 65 feet, 2 inches, breaking her previous personal mark. Johntavia Shaw bested Causey with an AAU world record throw measured at 80 feet, 9 inches.
