Williams commits to Georgia Southern

Christian Williams (77) branches off a block and pushes his way toward a linebacker during spring drills. Williams has verbally committed to play football at Georgia Southern in the fall of 2014.

They met online and after sharing tweets, decided it was time to meet in person.  That spur-of-the-moment road trip was all it took for a decision to be made. Christian Williams, Wetumpka’s fireplug of a center, fell in love with Statesboro, Ga., and decided he wanted to spend his next four years there.

“It felt like home, and I knew I wanted to be some where that felt like home because I was going to be there for the next four years,” said Williams. “I started building a relationship with (the coaches) in February. Their defensive line coach started talking to me on Twitter. And it went from there.”
