Stanhope Elmore’s defense was on display as the Mustangs ran roughshod over the Percy Julian Phoenix in the AHSAA Class 6A Region 2 opener, 40-0. Stanhope Elmore running back Dee Barnes scored all five touchdowns for the Mustangs, rushing for over 100 yards in the first half.
Coming off of the emotional loss to rival Prattville last week, the Mustangs took the lessons they learned and executed in front of their home crowd at 17 Springs. This was Stanhope Elmore’s first game at their new home stadium in Millbrook, and they successfully defended their territory.
