Stanhope Elmore is ending a five-year playoff drought and heading down to Mobile to take on a physical Theodore team in the first round of the postseason. Coach Hunter Adams is emphasizing mental toughness this week in preparation for a battle in the trenches.

The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs finished the 2025 regular season as well as any team could. They won their final game of the season against Calera, 49-33. It was senior night and a night of broken records.

Mustangs running back Dee Barnes rushed for 271 yards, breaking the threshold of 2,000 yards in a season and surpassing Arthur McQueen’s 1,951 yards in a season. Barnes has 29 touchdowns this season to show for it. Now, Stanhope Elmore coach Hunter Adams and the Mustangs are looking towards a big challenge in the first round of the postseason.
