This year two Alexander City women had the opportunity to participate in the television game show Wheel of Fortune.Cindy Blake and Laura Fagan flew out to Los Angeles to be contenders for Wheel of Fortune.Fagan became “Alex City famous” when her episode of Wheel of Fortune aired. She was very successful; she won a total of $92,190 which also included a trip to Amsterdam.The costs of the trip come out of Fagan’s winnings, but luckily the dates of the trip coincided perfectly with her wedding anniversary. Just short of a year later, Blake took her chances on the national television show. Blake and her husband, Scott, flew out to Los Angeles to compete on Wheel of Fortune and possibly win some money.Upon returning to Alex City, Blake did not arrive with nearly as much success as Fagan; she forgot to include “the” in one of her phrases, which ended the game for Blake.Blake ended up bringing home $5,000 and plenty of stories to tell.Despite her small error, Blake and her husband still had a grand time during their travels. Blake said they enjoyed the time they spent together viewing some famous landmarks like the Hollywood sign and Santa Monica pier. Both Fagan and Blake mentioned their experiences with meeting Vanna White. They both encountered White prior to having her hair and makeup done, and they said she was very easy to talk to. After receiving a pep talk from White, both of the Alex City contenders did their very best on the show.
