With influenza season just around the corner, local health officials are gearing up for the annual distribution of flu shots.

Debbie Thompson, nursing supervisor for the Tallapoosa County Health Department said her organization should start receiving its supply of flu shots for the year in early October. The typical Alabama flu season begins in either late October or early November.
