One of the hottest and most talked about nutrition trends right now is “Clean Eating.” The idea of clean eating focuses on the origin of food and the path it takes to eventually make it to the plate. Clean eating is about embracing food in its whole food state or as close as possible to how it is found in nature, but it can be interpreted in many different ways.

Some clean-eating advocates believe only whole foods count as clean eating, though others say that minimally processed foods can be acceptable. Some clean eaters include food that is organically grown with no pesticides, no hormones or genetically modified organisms (GMO). Local and in season produce may also be a big proponent of the clean-eating lifestyle. Clean eating includes eating foods from all food groups; however, fruit and vegetables is the foundation.
