Survey crews from Garmin International spent the better part of last month here on a project that could help anglers catch fish anywhere on Lake Martin. The provider of worldwide navigation products was here to develop a high definition map of the lake bottom. The end product – a LakeVü HD Ultra map on a micro SD card – will show underwater structures, such as humps and fish habitat, to aid fishermen in identifying potentially productive sites, said Garmin Marine Survey Team Leader Paul Combs.

“Our survey equipment allows us to cover a great deal of the lake bottom and collect quality, high resolution data.” Combs explained. “If we can physically get a boat into an area, we will collect data. Lake Martin is a fantastic lake, so we expect this to be a great add to our MaxDef collection of lakes and to help anglers catch more fish!
