New Orleans’ musical influences made its way into downtown Alexander City last night at the 18th annual Jazz Fest, but the musicians who played weren’t without a story to tell.

After Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans in August 2005, many musicians were left homeless. That’s why Habitat for Humanity formed the Musician’s Village in the outskirts of New Orleans to create a community and preserve the music’s rich culture.
