Rates could rise while levels drop

Now that the pumps necessary to keep the area’s water supply flowing during the drought have been installed, attention has been shifted to how Alexander City will pay for the vital equipment. Since the funding must come from the city’s utilities revenue, there is a distinct possibly residents could see a rate increase on their water bills in the near future.

However, Mayor Barbara Young and the Alexander City Council are fighting tooth and nail to ensure such an increase does not occur.
