The pumpkin beer aisle used to be one of the easiest sections in the bottle shop to navigate. Every can looked roughly the same, every sip carried the same cinnamon-nutmeg-allspice blueprint and every fall the only real question was which amber ale a drinker preferred. That aisle looks considerably more varied this September, and the options waiting on the shelf have very little in common with each other.

A pint glass of amber beer with foam sits on a wooden table surrounded by whole pumpkins and autumn leaves.
