File / TPI Looking forward to next season the Elmore County Panthers were reclassified into AHSAA's Class 4A Region 4 alongside rivals Holtville and Tallassee plus previous region opponents Beauregard, Marbury and Valley. New additions to the region include Greeville and Charles Henderson.

After the AHSAA announced its 2026-2028 reclassification on Jan. 23, Alabama high school football was shaken up in more ways than one. For Elmore County, the change is not as substantial as it is for some teams.

The most significant difference is the division between public and private schools with separate paths to championship for each type of team. Public and private schools are not barred from competing against one another, however. With the change, the Panthers find themselves moved down to Class 4A and members of the new Region 4, joining four members of the previous region including Holtville, Marbury, Valley and Beauregard, plus additions in Charles Henderson, Greenville and Tallassee.Â
