Edgewood Academy announced last week via Facebook that it had hired a new head football coach, Gregg Baker, most recently of Redland Middle School.

Baker has coached at virtually every level of the game, in and around Elmore County for nearly 40 years. He began his coaching career at Trinity Presbyterian in Montgomery where he served as offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator and junior high school head coach. He then spent two years as the head coach at Pike Road Junior High School, formerly Georgia Washington, compiling a 13-2 record and a championship. Baker then took a job as the offensive coordinator at Johnson Abernathy Graetz High School where he contributed to a state runner-up season. He then spent a year as offensive line coach at Prattville before returning to Montgomery private schools, taking the head coach position at Alabama Christian Academy.
