There’s a lot of sports being played right now across the Auburn campus with some results better than others. The baseball team swept Missouri over the weekend and looks befitting of their No.5 ranking. The softball team got swept by Oklahoma and obviously have some work to do to be considered elite. Steven Pearl’s first year as head coach of the basketball program failed to make the NCAA Tournament. They were one of the final teams left in contention, but a brutal schedule ended up being too difficult to overcome.

However, Pearl and the Tigers did accept an invitation to the NIT and will play South Alabama in Neville Arena on Tuesday night. All of these are intriguing in their own way and bear watching over the next few weeks, but nothing moves the needle quite like football.
