File / TPI After the last few years of dominance, Wetumpka softball plans to make it all the way and get back to what the Indians accomplished in 2023 – a state title.

Now a third season out from its last state championship, Wetumpka’s softball team is looking for the right pieces and the right formula to get back to that place. As far as pieces, the Indians bring back three All-Elmore County first-team players from last season, two second-team players and three honorable mentions.

Grambling State commit Alyssa Brown is back for the Indians as a center of the defense and a consistent force in the batters’ box with a .391 average last season and 45 RBIs. At shortstop, senior Bailey Carlisle (Huntingdon College) is back with her eight home runs and 0.493 average at the plate. In the outfield, seniors Kyla Richardson and Madison Calloway, plus sophomore Autymn Hollon will join them after a great freshman season. Joining the experienced core is freshman Sophie Arant at first base and pitcher and eighth grader Taylor Carlisle as a utility player.
