Cliff Williams / TPI Administrators drop into classrooms at Stanhope Elmore unannounced to make sure students are using the cellphone pouches.

Stanhope Elmore High School was the first school in the state to ban the use of cellphones during the school day. It implemented the use of a YONDR pouch allowing students to carry their phones in locked bags.

It all started because of discipline issues. SEHS principal Michael Dunseith was a teacher and coach when then-principal Ewell Fuller and administrators implemented the policy for the 2022-23 school year.
