Just a few years ago, municipalities in Elmore County were paying different rates to house prisoners serving time from municipal court convictions. Last year the Elmore County Commission and the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office set it at $25 per prisoner per day for municipal inmates while it studied the costs of housing municipal inmates.

At Monday’s commission meeting, a cost increase to $50 per prisoner per day was approved to go in effect Oct. 1.
