A lot at the intersection of Highway 63 and Highway 170 in Eclectic has been rezoned from Agriculture District to General Business District.

In a 3-2 vote, the council approved the rezoning after months of discussions and meetings about the issue at its Monday meeting. At issue was current property owner Pete Patel presented plans to create a convenience store with a package store. The Alabama Department of Transportation had signed off on an entrance from the property onto Highway 63. Plans for the property are not required for a zoning change, but are for a business license. Town of Eclectic rezoning requests are approved by the town council. Business licenses are issued through town hall following ordinances already adopted by the council.
