Cliff Williams / TPI Portions of less traveled county roads in Elmore County are getting work this upcoming fiscal year thanks to one time funding from Enhance Elmore measures. After this fiscal year, the funding will be used primarily to pay the bond payment for the Elmore County Jail.
Elmore County could see $16.7 million in road and bridge improvements over the 2026-27 fiscal year if it receives the grants it has applied for.
The total includes $2.38 million in Rebuild Alabama funds to be matched with grants for a total of $11.38 million. The grand total also includes $5.4 million in one time funding from Enhance Elmore measures enacted by the Alabama legislature. The combined work includes some form of resurfacing, striping, widening or safety improvements on nearly 76 miles of Elmore County’s 800 miles of county roads. Work will also include a 228-foot bridge replacement on Robinson Road. The bridge only is estimated to cost $8 million including matching funds from Rebuild Alabama totaling $1.1 million.
