One week after a loss in its season opener, Holtville needed a response. The Bulldogs got one Friday night, but they had to survive four quarters of football to get it. 

Holtville defeated Shelby County, 34-33, in a back-and-forth thriller, overcoming multiple lead changes and holding off a final Shelby County drive to secure its first win of the season. Both teams entered the non-region matchup 0-1, each looking to avoid starting the season with two straight losses.
