Cliff Williams / The Herald Artist Mary Ann Casey of Auburn spoke to local artists in Wetumpka about her techniques but also how to support other artists.

Many believe the arts are helping revive Wetumpka. It is all part of an idea almost two decades in the making.

“I remember a Sunday afternoon after becoming mayor, we called in a handful of artists,” Wetumpka Mayor Jerry Willis said. “We met and talked about how we could get the arts going in Wetumpka. From that meeting, we are here today.”
